First Aid Training
“Every year in the UK, thousands of people die or are seriously injured in incidents. Many deaths could be prevented if first aid was given before emergency services arrive.” (NHS 2022).
First aid is an essential skill that everyone should have, whether you have a responsibility in your workplace or at home.
Here at St Thomas Training, we are able to provide a number of First Aid and other related courses aimed to equip individuals with the required knowledge to deal with many incidents that you could be faced with and the skills to be able to save someone’s life.
First Aid at Work / Emergency First Aid at Work
The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 require workplaces to provide adequate and appropriate first aid personnel (as well as equipment and facilities) to ensure employees receive immediate help if they are injured or taken ill at work.
A first-aider is someone who has completed appropriate training to the level identified in the first aid needs assessment; this may be:
- Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)
- EFAW training enables a first-aider to give emergency first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill while at work.
- First Aid at Work (FAW)
- FAW training includes the same content as EFAW and also equips the first-aider to apply first aid to a range of specific injuries and illness.
- Some other first aid training appropriate to the particular circumstances of your workplace.
- i.e. Anaphylaxis, Oxygen Therapy.
To help keep their basic skills up to date, it is strongly recommended that your first aiders undertake annual refresher training.
