Safeguarding Adults (or Children)
The team at St Thomas training provides a wide range of Safeguarding courses. We focus on Safeguarding Adults, because that is where most of our expertise lies, but we do encorporate Safeguarding Children as well if required.
Some of these are basic awareness sessions, aimed at the front-line workers who probably have most day-to-day contact with service users. Others are aimed at managers or more senior staff who might become involved when an issue arises.
We take our guidance from the Care Act 2014 in England, or the Social Services and Well Being (Wales) Act 2014, and of course from the various local policies and procedures that are relevant to wherever the training is taking place. We are committed to the ethos of "Making Safeguarding Personal" - ie that the views of the person who may have been abused are a central part of any Safeguarding process.
Our current (2024) contracts for Safeguarding training include Norfolk County Council, Somerset County Council, London Borough of Sutton, Kent County Council, Perthyn, Octavia Group and Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing, as well as numerous ad hoc sessions for statutory, private, voluntary and independent organisations.
