Safeguarding Adults and Mental Capacity Act training in Norfolk

Our contracts with Norfolk County Council

St Thomas Training is the official provider of training in Safeguarding Adults and in the Mental Capacity Act 2005 on behalf of Norfolk County Council and the Norfolk Safeguarding Adults Board.

Please note: this training is ONLY available to employees of Norfolk County Council, and to employees and volunteers of private, voluntary and independent organisations in the county of Norfolk.

There are various different topics. Please think carefully about which topic is right for you and your staff. 

Over the Summer and Autumn of 2022 we are gradually reverting to face-to-face training, although we will continue to offer a few virtual sessions in order to give people some choice of how to attend.

You will be emailed a confirmation of your booking with a unique 5- digit reference code (eg AB123). Please quote that reference code if you need to contact us about your booking. And if you have any questions or problems, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Safeguarding Adults Awareness - (open to the following NCC job roles: Business Support and Assistant Practitioners; as well as any employee or volunteer from private, voluntary or independent organisations in the county of Norfolk)

Developing Safeguarding Practice (used to be called the "Refresher" session) - (open to Assistant Practitioners of NCC, as well as any employee or volunteer from private, voluntary or independent organisations in the county of Norfolk. Typically you would attend this training if it's more than 3 years since you attended any Safeguarding Adults training.)

Learning Lessons from Safeguarding Adults Reviews - CPD for experienced staff - (open to the following NCC job roles: Assistant Practitioners, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Practice Consultants,Team Managers, Heads of Service; as well as any of the organisations represented on the Norfolk Safeguarding Adults Board including employees from private, voluntary or independent sector in the county of Norfolk). This is the annual CPD refresher session for people who have done all the other Safeguarding Adults training within Norfolk. The content changes each year on 1st April so it's an excellent way to keep your practice and knowledge bang up to date.

We schedule these sessions in response to direct requests from Norfolk County Council, so please ask your line manager to liaise with NCC Learning & Development if there is demand for this topic

Self-Neglect - Beyond the Basics to Effective Interventions (starting April 2022) - (open to the following NCC job roles: This is event is for all social workers, occupational therapists, OT assistants, assistant practitioners and managers who already have a basic understanding of self neglect, the Care Act definition causes and the ethical dilemmas involved. If you have not previously undertaken training in self neglect you will need to access the eLearning which is available on the Learning Hub. This training is ONLY open to employees of Norfolk County Council.)
