Managing Director
David Thornicroft, Managing Director of St Thomas Training, brings extensive experience in the health and social care sector. His background spans residential work in probation and bail hostels, children’s homes, and facilities for adults with mental health needs, learning disabilities, and dementia. Formerly a Probation Officer in northeast London, David also established and managed a training department for Umbrella, a central London mental health charity.
For over two decades, David has operated his own training companies, initially in Hertfordshire and now from St Thomas Training’s headquarters in Lymington, Hampshire. Despite our southern base, we proudly offer nationwide training services tailored to your venue.
Ruth Thornicroft, Operations Director since June 2016, oversees the financial and quality aspects of St Thomas Training. With a robust customer focus and meticulous attention to detail, Ruth ensures exceptional value and top-quality training for our clients. Her previous roles include coordinating the assisted volunteer program at The Watford Council for Voluntary Services, providing her with valuable insights into the voluntary and local authority sectors.
Ruth emphasises relationship-building to understand the unique needs and pressures faced by our clients and trainers alike.
Starting off at St Thomas Training as ‘Head of First Aid Training’, Sarah was initially responsible for the establishment of the First Aid training department, creating course content, trainer recruitment, contract management and conducting training sessions.
Transitioning to Operations Manager, Sarah now oversees the day-to-day operations of St Thomas Training and is a key point of contact for customers. Her responsibilities span from managing contracts, handling training arrangements, and maintaining operation excellence across the organisation.
Misha first connected with St Thomas Training as a participant on one our of First Aid courses, where her enthusiasm and professionalism quickly stood out. She initially supported us with ad-hoc administrative tasks before joining the office team more regularly. Today, Misha plays a key role in coordinating training, liaising with both customers and trainers, and ensuring all pre- and post-course administration runs smoothly.
Our team of over 25 Associate Trainers across the UK are carefully selected for their practical experience in health and social care, as well as their exceptional training abilities. Our trainers include qualified social workers, nurses, and professionals with leadership roles in housing associations and day centres. Each trainer brings extensive experience delivering training to health and social care professionals, ensuring expertise and relevance in every session.
