About Tim Spencer-Lane:

At the Law Commission, Tim spearheaded the review of the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards under the Mental Capacity Act 2005. His efforts culminated in the final report and draft Bill published in March 2017, which influenced the Mental Capacity (Amendment) Act 2019. He was also responsible for the UK Law Commission’s review of the regulation of health and social care professionals, and the Law Commission’s review of adult social care law, which became the foundation of the Care Act 2014.

Tim is the legal editor of Community Care Inform and an honorary senior lecturer at Kingston University, where he teaches best interests assessor, and adult safeguarding courses.

He currently works for the Government Legal Department (Department of Health and Social Care) where he advises on mental capacity and mental health law.

How to Book

Due to limited availability, early booking is recommended to avoid disappointment. Sessions often reach full capacity and maintain a waiting list. We accept card payments only with the exception if our regular customers wishing to book five or more places via invoice, who should contact us directly with a purchase order.
